product details

This newest generation shell has a ton of compatibility improvements and various enhancements.

Retro ARMS now makes their products to Tokyo Marui specifications, so this shell should have the best fitment with TM-based receivers. The inside has also been reworked and will accept all TM-based parts.

The Integrated Hop-Up chamber has been improved and now features a special collet nut to keep your inner barrel perfectly secure and stable. Do not overtighten the collet nut, though.

Split Gearboxes have the advantage of being very accessible, which reduces installation & maintenance time. The Hop-Up is included and is directly installed into the shell, ensuring optimal alignment and air seal. Being that this is a Retro ARMS shell, it is one of the lightest and strongest gearbox shells on the market.

Comes with the following:

- Gearbox (upper and lower)
- Hop-Up Chamber
- QSC Threaded Spring Guide
- Complete screws (2x M2,5x3; 5xM3x6 and 5x M3x12)

Comes with a Steel Bearing Retro QSC Spring guide.

Great gearbox with advantages and disadvantages. Advantages: -Shimming is super easy for your gears since you only need to work with the bottom half -Wire channels, like all retro arms, are very nice. This is especially advantageous for when you have a MOSFET or drop in module like a TITAN or Spectre since you will have more wires passing by the pinion gear. There is a lip to tuck the wires out of the way of the pinion gear. -Durable as heck, except for the trigger contact spring post. This broke off, but I didn't really care since I was using a TITAN. It may have broken off because I have worked with ICS split style so much that I was not used to the different way this gearbox assembles. -No real need to hold down the trigger and ARL latch or use the HS armory tools during assembly of the lower gearbox. -Light weight -No mods required for TITAN or Spectre MKii drop in modules. Disadvantages: -You have to disassemble the upper gearbox just to fix hopup issues -Hopup only seems to work well with retro arms buckings. I was having feeding issues with G&G greens, which work in everything else. -Hopup arm needs to be dremeled down to fit common flat hop nubs that fit in traditional arms to prevent permanent overhop when using an Rhopped barrel. I used dremel tip 9901. -Barrel has to be pre installed, and is very nerve racking to install long barrels because you have to slide it in with the upper gearbox attached. -The only cylinder that I could fit in this is the Retro Arms series, and in addition to this, they only seem to fit the Reto Arms cylinder head. Brill sells a whole retro arms cylinder set so no ordering from Czech republic to get them. Overall, patience and the right parts overcome all the disadvantages, so I give 5/5. I currently use this setup in a shorty build with a retro arms type A receiver. It also fits in a G&P MOTS receiver. If I were to by another, I would get it without the integrated hopup.

the gen 2 is buy far best gear box on the market to date and at Brill its $30 less to buy then at retro so all round top box for top price and from a top retailer 5/stars

Absolutely amazing, my one complaint is that regular cylinder and cylinder heads do not fit. Also I wish that there was more room to shim near the bevel, all the other tolerances are great

This gearbox is expertly crafted. The tolerances are very high, and many parts of the upper are reinforced. Where the pinion gear protrudes into the gearbox shell, there is a little passage and cover for wire, to keep them from getting cut up. My only concern is that the front of the hole (in which the rear body pin secures the upper shell to the lower shell) is a bit thin, but it doesn't seem to be a high-stress part though. Just the one thought i had about this gearbox. This gearbox includes all screws needed, the hop up (only missing a c-clip and bucking, of course), spring guide, arl and arl spring, a little tub of grease (I am not knowledgeable in this area, so i do not know if it is any good, but it is thick, yellow, and smells like heavy machinery grease, not like weak grease or silicon), and a small sticker. I have yet to use it, as i am waiting for parts, but i am excited to work in this beautifully machined piece.
