A Gearbox shell that has good tolerances and measurements is best for optimal performance. That being said, this Lonex Gearbox shell is favored among Airsoft mechanics due to its fine design and stable properties. This shell is made of Die Cast Zinc Alloy and is much more durable than standard Gearbox shells.

The screw mounting threads are very robust, and the tight tolerances within the Gearbox make sure that gears mesh with ideal operation.

This shell can take a variety of upgrade parts, and even comes with several high-grade Gearbox components. It is complemented with Lonex 8mm Bearings and a Tappet plate.

Lonex shells have additional reinforcement to prevent cracking, however I still recommend a Sorbothane pad for even further stress mitigation.

An excellent gearbox to replace a stock unit. A v2 gearbox that is strong, dimensionally accurate, and inexpensive. You get a lot for your money and I would recommend to anyone this gearbox if they are in need of or want to replace their current gearbox but not looking to spend Retro Arms money on one. 2 things of note: -It is not radiused as shown in the pictures and I would radius it for added security against common stress fractures -It is quite heavy. The alloy used is strong but heavy and is how the cost is kept down. Don't let this dissuade you, it is still an excellent gearbox.

I wrote a review on this already, but either my session timed out or he rejected it because it was way too long. My friend is building an M4 CQBR and wants me to do most of the work, but he's still buying the parts. Anyway, it's nice that it comes with a nice tappet, selector, and bearings. I really wish the bearings weren't pre-installed, since I broke one trying to remove it ( it's OK, I was replacing that one with a bushing anyway). As far as compatibility goes, it's okay. For some reason, my Retro Arms cylinder head would only fit in one half of this thing, most likely due to Taiwanese QC and/or casting error. The bearings are not so bad, and they mesh quite nice with all the gears I currently own, but especially Siegetek's. The tappet is very good and seems like it will hold out on a high stress build. Speaking of the tappet, there is a reinforcement on the gearbox along the nozzle end of the tappet, so I would just use the Lonex one instead of modifying another tappet. The selector is, well, it's a selector. You can't really go wrong when buying one. There's a lot more information to be said on this, but this review is already too long. Overall, good shell, if you need a good one but are on kind of a budget, definitely go for this. I most certainly will be using this product in more builds.

Great shell, I swapped out the bearings for bushings, and put it in a G&P reciever. Everything is holding together very well. I did have to grind off four pegs to install my Titan, but other than that, everything fits perfectly.

It's a fairly good gearbox shell. It has issues, but it's also got much better tolerances than other gearbox shells I've worked with. I had to sand a few spots out in the shell, such as the smaller front retention pin hole in order to allow my Scar's selector gear shaft to fit through, as well as having to grind down part of the inside of my ZCI motor grip to allow proper fitting with the shell. It's also rather difficult to open to do maintenance, since the guide/groove around the spine of the gearbox at the top can be difficult to separate, but this is a nonissue considering how well the parts go into the gearbox. All in all I'm happy with it, and will use another one when I go to rebuild my M4 later on.

Simply the best gearbox ive ever handled, for every reason. If you want the best gearbox you found it no need for cnc gearboxes if you tune these right you can run 32 gram piston on a m170 fullstroke, just change bearings if you surplus m150.

I may have just gotten a bad shell, but the receiver pin holes were off-spec for me. I bought a new G&P receiver set because this gearbox shell wouldn't fit in the original AGM body. After installing this gearbox, the receiver pins would fit through one half of of the gearbox shell, but not the other. I had to drill out the holes to get it to fit right. Had I known the holes were off, I probably wouldn't have had to drop the extra cash for a new body, and just modified the old one. As for durability and whatnot, it seems to be holding up well enough with a 9-tooth DSG and an m170 spring. The halves fit together really nicely, and the overall finish is very nice. The bearings seem to be of good quality too. I was just hoping that a $50 shell would have better QC.
