This is an Element D-Type Motor armature.

This Armature is 18TPA, so it yields slightly more torque than 16TPA motors with slightly less speed.

When motors fail, it's usually due to commutator or brush wear. If the brushes are adequate and cleaning the armature does not restore the motor, an armature replacement may be warranted. Fortunately, Brill Armory now sells these armatures so users don't have to buy an entirely new motor when their motor fails. These armatures can be dropped into motor cans to repair older motors or to create brand new motors.

The armature is balanced with epoxy and was designed to fit in Element motor cans. It is probably best to use an SHS or Element-style motor can or a motor can that doesn't utilize a retaining ring.

Pair this armature with a neodymium magnet motor can for optimal results. It's recommended that users are proficient with AEG motor maintenance prior to buying this product.

This armature is a D-type and therefore compatible with both D-type and O-type pinion gears. If using an O-type pinion gear, do not use extreme force to press the gear onto the shaft. Heating the pinion to expand it and/or removing material from the shaft may be necessary for proper O-type pinion installation. A small amount of lubricating oil may also be required to ease installation.
